The company is building specialized networking solutions that offer cloud giants hardware and software that integrates seamlessly into each customer’s optimized stack.

At the intersection of artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure, Nexthop AI has officially launched from stealth mode with a massive $110 million in funding.

The funding round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners included Kleiner Perkins, WestBridge Capital, Battery Ventures, and Emergent Ventures. With this capital injection, Nexthop AI plans to accelerate the development of its cutting-edge networking solutions—tailored specifically for hyperscale AI infrastructure.

Addressing the Infrastructure Bottleneck in AI

As AI workloads continue to scale exponentially, cloud giants—known as hyperscalers—are investing billions annually to upgrade their GPU clusters and networking backbones. The infrastructure demands of training and deploying massive AI models are pushing traditional networking technologies to their limits, requiring new paradigms in efficiency, customization, and scalability.

Enter Nexthop AI

The Santa Clara-based company and rising AI star in the California ecosystem, is building highly specialized networking solutions for hyperscalers, offering hardware and software that integrates seamlessly into each customer’s optimized stack. From custom networking hardware to hardened network operating systems (NOS) and pre-tested optical and electrical interconnects, Nexthop AI provides an end-to-end solution tailored to the evolving needs of large-scale AI deployments.

“Hyperscalers need the ecosystem to innovate with them to accelerate their infrastructure deployments,” said Anshul Sadana, CEO of Nexthop AI. “Nexthop AI is a force-multiplier, partnering with and working as an extension of cloud companies’ engineering teams. This disruptive model enables cloud companies to build the most cost- and power-efficient AI solutions.”

Filling a Critical Market Gap

The market opportunity is enormous. According to Lightspeed Venture Partners, the addressable market for this kind of infrastructure is already $35 billion and growing rapidly. As AI transitions from experimental models to production-grade applications across industries, the need for high-performance, tunable, and scalable infrastructure becomes mission-critical.

“The world’s largest cloud providers need a new generation of networking capabilities to keep pace with the demands of AI workloads,” said Guru Chahal, partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners. “Nexthop AI is filling a critical gap in this market with its deep domain expertise, pioneering technology, and customized solutions.”

What makes Nexthop AI stand out is its approach to co-designing with customers. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all hardware, Nexthop AI works closely with each hyperscaler’s engineering team to build infrastructure that is optimized for their exact environment—from software stack to physical interconnects.

Built for the AI Era

Historically, advancements in networking have underpinned every major shift in computing—from mainframes to PCs, from client-server architectures to cloud. Now, as we enter the AI era, networking infrastructure is once again emerging as a key enabler of innovation.

Nexthop AI’s products are designed with flexibility in mind, including support for open-source NOS platforms such as SONiC. This allows hyperscalers to maintain the agility and control they need over their infrastructure while benefiting from the enhanced performance, reliability, and efficiency of Nexthop’s hardware and system integrations.

The company’s team is composed of seasoned industry veterans with deep expertise across hardware design, system engineering, photonics, and network architecture. This interdisciplinary capability allows Nexthop to deliver fully optimized platforms that push the boundaries of what’s possible in AI infrastructure.

Global Presence, Global Ambition

Though headquartered in Santa Clara, California, Nexthop AI has an international footprint, with offices in Seattle, Vancouver, and Bengaluru, India. This global presence reflects the global scale of AI infrastructure development—and positions Nexthop to work closely with cloud leaders around the world.

The $110 million in funding will be used to expand its product roadmap, grow engineering and operations teams, and scale manufacturing to meet growing demand. By working as an extension of hyperscaler engineering teams, Nexthop AI aims to reduce time-to-deployment while increasing efficiency, performance, and customization.

Positioned to Power the Future of AI

As AI continues to reshape industries—from healthcare to finance, logistics to entertainment—behind-the-scenes infrastructure plays a pivotal role in enabling this transformation. Nexthop AI, by focusing on the networking layer, is building the foundational tools that will power the next generation of cloud AI.

Their vision is clear: make hyperscaler AI clusters faster, leaner, and smarter, so innovation at the application layer can move as fast as possible.

With heavyweight investors backing them, a deep bench of technical talent, and a clear problem to solve, Nexthop AI is set to be a key player in the evolution of AI infrastructure.
