Rising Tide Capital, a non-profit organization based in Jersey City that supports inner city entrepreneurs via training programs, will hold its annual fund raising gala on November 1st. To be held at the Liberty House in Jersey City the evening brings together key stakeholders whose contributions support the organization’s entrepreneurial initiatives and programs.
“The 2016 Champions of Entrepreneurship” will be honored: JPMorgan Chase & Co. as Champion of Inclusive Economies, Joy Mangano as Inventor and Entrepreneur of the Year, and BlackStone Charitable Foundation as Champion of Innovation.
Also honored are this year’s winners of the “Start Something Challenge,” a statewide business plan competition run by Rising Tide Capital. First place with an award of $10,000 goes to Diane Woodard, second place with an award of $7,500 goes to Tina Tang, and third place of $5,000 goes to Racquel Clarke.
Rising Tide Capital was co-founded by Alfa Demmellash and Alex Forrester. Since its inception it has grown from graduating “15 entrepreneurs per year to an institution which now serves more than 600 entrepreneurs per year, and operates in 4 New Jersey cities and delivers programs in English and Spanish,” according to the organization’s web site. Its mission is to “build strong businesses that transform lives, strengthen families, and create, vibrant, sustainable neighborhoods.”
