Honors and recognition for truly outstanding innovation in drug discovery are coming to Alice Zhang, CEO and co-founder of Verge Genomics.  As a woman in science and entrepreneur, Zhang’s pioneering work uses AI and machine learning with human data to find better and faster drugs.

Verge’s team of scientists and engineers are using multiple technologies to transform the drug discovery process.  Founded in 2015 by Zhang and Jason Chen, the California based company built CONVERGE™, an end-to-end drug discovery and development platform that brings efficiencies to drug development for even the most challenging of diseases.

According to crunchbase, Verge has raised $134 million to date that includes investments from Eli Lilly and Lifeforce Capital.  Their innovations are touted for creating the industry’s “most advanced all-in-human AI-powered drug discovery platform”.

An announcement was made this week publicizing Zhang’s inclusion in Fortune’s 2022 40 Under 40 list of rising business influencers and Fierce Biotech’s list of the 2022 Fiercest Women in Life Sciences. Zhang distinguishes herself as both woman in science and as a successful woman entrepreneur.

Zhang shares her insight about the future of biotechnology and the opportunities it brings.

“The biotech startup phenotype is changing and so are its leaders,” said Zhang. “In an era where talent is the biggest bottleneck, those who adapt will find an untapped pool of creative minds, fresh ideas, and big returns. I am proud to be part of the transformation of biotech as we merge technology and science to improve the lives of patients.”

While Zhang’s achievements both as a woman entrepreneur and a woman in science, Zhang was selected also for her role in corporate culture, leadership, and gender equity.
