Crowdsourcing is one of today’s powerful and practical tools for solving problems across society. With well-funded nonprofits like XPRIZE leveraging it with great success, HeroX launched ImpactCrowd to bring this additional vital option to nonprofits, NGOs, and mission-driven organizations working to achieve social impact. Specifically, ImpactCrowd is focused on supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations in 2015.
These SDG’s, also called the “Global Goals”, are universal calls to end poverty, protect the planet and its environment, and ensure everyone, everywhere on earth has the chance to enjoy prosperity and peace by 2030. To hit these goals, organizations participating in ImpactCrowd receive not only the HeroX platform, but additional support from HeroX’s team of crowdsourcing experts.
Many nonprofits lack the funds for R&D, which is why crowdsourcing becomes so appealing. HeroX’s platform lets them forge relationships, explore multi-disciplinary approaches to meeting their mission goals, and ultimately produce novel solutions for them. The newly launched platform helps identify the many brilliant people who care about social causes and would like to help, if approached.
Participating nonprofits using crowdsourcing gain global reach, pulling from a broad innovator demographic and when their particular problem is solved they give prize money to those who developed the solution. This lets them be proactive in tackling long-standing problems and more importantly enables them to have the goals and reach of larger nonprofits that are better funded.
“ImpactCrowd was inspired by the wellspring of innovation that crowdsourcing has fostered in the public sector. Without barriers to participation, nonprofits and NGOs can pull from HeroX’s global network of over 2 million innovators, sourcing new ways to solve for social good,” said HeroX CEO and Co-founder Christian Cotichini. “ImpactCrowd will be a gamechanger for organizations working to end our most intractable problems.”
