The NJSBDC at Rutgers Business School in New Brunswick, NJ has announced its latest effort to enhance the local entrepreneurial community entitled the “Lean Startup Program”. Through a five 3-hour sessions, the program seeks to educate small businesses and entrepreneurs how to rapidly and efficiently design, test, improve business ideas and launch and fund startups.
The Lean Startup program, inspired by Lean Startup methodology developed in Silicon Valley and co-opted by the academic and entrepreneurial communities across the US, is meant to teach entrepreneurs to become efficient in building their startups by spend less time planning and more time doing.
Dr. Suresh U. Kumar, the Chief Strategy Officer at Silicon Valley based multinational technology conglomerate 8K Miles Software Services Inc. is the lead instructor for this program that commenced this fall. Being a 5-time Inc. 500 ranked serial entrepreneur, Dr. Kumar has contributed greatly to innovation and entrepreneurship that includes serving as a mentor at the Eugene Lang Center at Columbia Business School and the Indus Entrepreneurs (TIE).
He conducts the program as a “flipped classroom” format dedicating time and focus to problem-solving and discussion about applying concepts. This practical approach gives entrepreneurs immediate and relevant use of the concepts and practices they learn.
The program takes place in the Rutgers Business School located in Piscataway, New Jersey. Attendees this fall consisted of Rutgers students, business owners, and entrepreneurs. Exposure to the diverse entrepreneurial community through this program is also beneficial for networking. Existing business owners seeking to grow, early stage entrepreneurs with a new business idea or product and anyone interested in learning the cutting-edge Lean Methodology are encouraged to attend.
