Mayor Ras J. Baraka, East Ward Councilman Augusto Amador, Deputy Mayor and Director of Economic Development Baye Adofo-Wilson and the Newark Community Economic Development Corporation (Newark Community EDC) were part of a ribbon cutting opening ceremony for the City’s latest retail business incubator that is part of its Community Storefront Program (CSP).
Following the launch of the East and Central Ward storefronts later this month, all five retail incubators – one planned for each Ward – will be open to serve aspiring entrepreneurial Newarkers and their patrons.
The five selected CSP participants first receive business management training and one-on-one coaching, which is followed by their establishing operations in freshly renovated, marketplace-style storefronts across the City. In addition, Newark Community EDC provides all equipment and six months of subsidized rent and utilities at no cost to the entrepreneurs.
This retail incubator is located at 124 Polk Street in Newark.
