The New Jersey Entrepreneurial Network’s annual “Posters, Pitches and Prizes” event was held on March 29th at Princeton University which brought together New Jersey’s entrepreneurial community to see early stage life-sciences and technology companies.
The “Poster Event” held in the atrium of the Frick Chemistry Building showcased ventures having roots in research conducted at New Jersey’s universities that included poster presentations from Rutgers University, NJIT and others. The presenting research also provided examples of university/industry collaboration.
Participants were given the opportunity to competitively pitch their company and ideas to a team of judges. In total, there were three winners selected. “Best Pitch” went to Michael Dunn of NovoPedics Inc. with MeniscoFix, a biodegradeable polymer and fiber-reinforced scaffold intended for total meniscal replacement. “Best Poster” was won by Arash Sedeghi, a Princeton student at the eHub Keller Center, with his poster for Possumus Smart Cities Parking Initiative. Finally, the “Audience Choice” award, also known as the “Best in Show” award, was given to Michael Johnson’s Visikol HISTO, an easy-to-use, rapid, reversible clearing technique for bio-imaging.
The prizes for the winners include provisional patent filings and applications via the intellectual property law firm Volpe and Koenig.
Speakers at the event included Princeton University’s Office of Technology Licensing’s Director, John Ritter, and Jesse Treu, Ph.D, a partner at Domain Associates, a healthcare focused venture capital firm.
