Big changes are coming this fall in the area of crowd funding, which is more than Kickstarter and Indiegogo. On the morning of Sept. 20, at Montclair State University, a panel of national experts on crowd funding discussed the myriad issues related to the JOBS (Jumpstart Our Business Start-ups) Act as numerous organizations begin to shift their business models to take advantage of crowd funding opportunities.

This free seminar was intended to help executives and their businesses stay abreast of the financing force that is crowd funding. The event would also help professional services providers navigate the crowd funding area for their clients.

“Probably the top questions are, where is this all going, who will be the winners and losers, where will opportunities be created?,” said Dennis Bone, director of the Feliciano Center for Entrepreneurship at Montclair State University, which hosted the event. “Obviously, no one has a crystal ball, but our panel of experts will certainly have great insight and perspective on how the industry will be reshaped over the next few years. The event gave the audience the latest status of the legal and regulatory issues related to crowd funding; provided an update on the thinking, planning and actions currently taking place in the industry; and talked about how the crowd funding industry will evolve over the next few years, which helped the audience gain a valuable perspective on this dynamic industry.”

“With the adoption of Title II of the JOBS Act and pieces of the rules set to go live in less than two weeks, this crowdfunding event could not come at a more perfect time,” said Daryl Bryant, founder of StartupValley, based in Saddle Brook. “As a Montclair State University alumnus, who has been involved in the crowdfunding space since the signing of the JOBS Act into law, I’m honored to be participating in this event alongside my fellow panelists. It’s going to be a great morning spent helping to educate and inform the community on what the JOBS Act is, the status of its implementation, and how it’s going to have a positive impact on the creation of jobs and growth of the economy within our region.”
