Leveraging the resources behind their global consumer electronics brand, LG Electronics announced the opening of LG Nova, an innovation center located in Silicon Valley. The Center will serve as an ecosystem for new ideas that reflect LG’s philosophy of spurring innovation for a better life.
They plan to partner with entrepreneurs and startup companies in North America and across the globe to scale ideas that are socially impactful solutions that drive technologically-advanced lifestyles. The Innovation Center joins the network of top startup accelerators around the U.S. that work with entrepreneurs to bring their innovations to market.
The Center’s ecosystem focuses on innovations that will improve accessibility, connectivity, usability, and mobility for work, home, school, and life. It creates a network that connects fresh ideas and fosters the cross-pollination of innovative thinking. From this, joint ventures, corporate collaborations and business initiatives between small and medium-sized businesses and large enterprises will emerge.
The team for the innovation center includes former White House Presidential Innovation Fellows, industry veterans, and entrepreneurs-in-residences, offering startups opportunities to gain top level resources and mentorship.
Dr. Sokwoo Rhee, head of LG NOVA and corporate senior vice president for innovation at LG Electronics, further explained the importance of the Center, “Innovation can be sparked in many ways, and the best innovations happen through collaboration. That’s why we created this philosophy of outside-in innovation, and that’s the guiding principle behind LG NOVA.”
