KPMG LLP released a study today showing 54% of American chief executives are “highly confident” towards the next three year’s business prospects, increasing from 23% last year. Their report, the “KPMG U.S. CEO Outlook 2017 report” surveyed 400 American CEOs and found the majority focused on growth and remaining competitive through investment into new technologies.
KPMG International is a worldwide professional service firm, offering audit, advisory, tax, and business solutions to organizations all over the globe. KPMG LLP, the firm that conducted the study, is KPMG International’s independent member firm in the United States.
This focus on technology innovation by the surveyed CEOs also reveals their views on disruption in their industry. 60% view disruption through technology as an opportunity instead of a threat, and 72% are actively disrupting the sectors in which they operate before their competitors do the same.
“CEOs see this time as one of opportunity and investment and are locking into what needs to be accomplished to distinguish their companies,” KPMG LLP’s Chairman and CEO, Lynne Doughtie, said in a press release. “They understand that in today’s fast-changing, ultra-competitive environment digitizing their business and investing in new technologies is critical and will result in a need for new talent.”
