HireCanvas, the 2014 winner of NYU’s $200k Entrepreneurs Challenge, announced it is taking another big step forward with its acceptance into NYC accelerator AngelPad. HireCanvas became the new venture winner in NYU’s program last spring by presenting an innovative idea to organize and increase the efficiency of college recruiting.

HireCanvas was chosen over 1800 applicants to join AngelPad, a startup accelerator run by ex-googler Thomas Korte and his wife Carine Magescas. This follows founders Kevin George and Scott Holand using their $75,000 in NYU winnings to build a field-ready prototype. The prototype was used at an NYU recruiting event allowing participants to directly experience HireCanvas and understand how it improves the recruiting process. During their next several months as part of the 8th AngelPad cohort, the HireCanvas team will receive hands-on advising and additional funding.

For the coming spring HireCanvas is making plans to implement their services at several schools including Johns Hopkins University and LIM College. At both schools employers have already registered to use HireCanvas for their recruiting process at the career fairs.

In addition to gaining users of their services, HireCanvas has also introduced a new event management interface and bulk messaging feature that allows recruiters to capture the exact information that desire, as well as send customized messages to students. Employers can interact with students before and after career events.

“Our goal is for HireCanvas to better engage the student body, as well as improve the employer experience,” said George. With the ongoing rolll out of their innovative ideas and being one of only 13 spots at AngelPad, HireCanvas continues on its way to radically improve recruiting.
