For the 6th year in a row, GNEC hosts its Awards and Opportunities Breakfast, gathering together the small business community of Newark and the surrounding area. With about 250 businesses anticipated to attend, the event provides an opportunity for small businesses to network and hear keynote speaker Lynier Richardson, the Executive Director of the Center for Urban Entrepreneurship and Economic Development.

In addition, GNEC will be presenting awards to small businesses and recognizing a key supporter of the community. Those being honored include the Small Business Honorees of CEO of, Richard Charles and Franklin Ventura, CEOs of Rennergy LLC and Easy Book911, as well as Community Honoree and Senior Vice President of Citi Community Development, Colleen Galvin.

GNEC focuses on providing financial assistance and training to small businesses in the greater Newark area, creating over 400 new jobs since the corporation’s founding in 2007.
