Vehicle networks to drive down cost and complexity while improving power efficiency in next-generation architectures
Capital continues to flow to technologies that are driving the future of the automotive industry, as seen in the recent announcement made by startup Ethernovia, Inc., having recently completed a $64 million A-round. The automotive startup is developing data transport and acceleration technology for automobile networks that support autonomous driving and electrical vehicles (EV).
Ethernovia will use their startup funding to develop a seamless, holistic and streamlined vehicle architecture for the connectivity of the software-defined vehicle (SDV) of the future. They will also develop integrated Ethernet chips having high bandwidth and advanced security solutions to achieve energy-efficient processing of large amounts of data for a range of applications. Advanced Driver-Assisted Systems (ADAS), autonomous driving (AD) and the ecosystem of customer software delivered Over the Air (OTA) require efficient data transport.
CEO Ramin Shirani and a team comprised of highly experienced semiconductor innovators co-founded Ethernovia in 2018 that includes Roy Myers, senior vice president of engineering, Hossein Sederat, chief technology officer, and Darren Engelkemier, vice president of silicon engineering. The Ethernovia team is pursuing opportunities in the global automotive connectivity market that is currently valued at $33.42 billion and projected to reach a high of $190.29 billion by 2033, according to market research firm Future Market Insights.
Ethernovi’s expert team has investor support, having positioned itself to be in the right place at the right time with the advent of the connected automobile, according to Shirani,

The technologies behind the connected car of the future has the support of notable investors that includes: Porsche Automobile Holding SE (Porsche SE), Qualcomm Ventures, VentureTech Alliance, AMD Ventures, Western Digital Capital, Fall Line Capital, Taiwania Capital, ENEA Capital and others.
Carlos Kokron, vice president, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and managing director, Qualcomm Ventures Americas sums up investor expectations for their funding of Ethernovia which they see as ushering in a new era of car connectivity and capabilities.
“Ethernovia’s solution transforms the automobile’s communication network by providing a reliable, standards-based, high-speed connectivity needed to enable the software-defined vehicle. We’re excited to invest in Ethernovia to accelerate the transformation of automotive,” said Kokron.
