On Thursday of this past week Elon Musk tweeted “Am donating $100M towards a prize for best carbon capture technology” followed by a second tweet “Details to follow”.
Musk unceremoniously is taking on climate change, but putting the focus on taking carbon out of the air, not cutting emissions which to date has gained the most attention in tech innovation.
Musk is founder of aerospace manufacturer SpaceX, joined electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla, becoming its CEO in 2008, co-founder of research non-profit OpenAI and co-founder of neurotechnology company, Neuralink, and founder of The Boring Company, an infrastructure and tunnel construction company.
