A new report from Tractica, a major market intelligence firm, details how the market for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drones, is starting to see their potential for commercial applications across many industries. The report, titled “Drones for Commercial Applications,” presents a revenue forecast from 2018 till 2025, while also showing the market and technology issues surrounding the industry.
Commercial drones have been deployed for use by businesses and government agencies for some time, but they are now being implemented on a larger-scale into commercial processes contributing to that segments rapid growth, while industry revenue growth reaches $13.7 billion by the end of 2025. The industry is moving past the investment stage and into sustained growth where there is a focus on core solutions where drones clearly excel.
The report also identifies the top 25 major industry players, while also naming 201 key and emerging companies in the commercial drone market who are likely to achieve long-term leadership. Demand for commercial drones has risen as companies find use for their hardware and services, high definition aerial imaging and sensing, and integrated data intelligence that the vehicles provide.
“The commercial drone market is focusing on core solutions where drones clearly excel,” says senior analyst Glenn Sanders. “The ability to demonstrate such effective solutions is the key determinant of which companies are likely to achieve long-term leadership and which may fall by the wayside. Now is the time for the companies to perfect their products and gain momentum, mindshare, and market share.”
