Intelligent collaborative robots, known as cobots, are becoming increasingly popular in the workplace—as presented in a new report from global market intelligence firm International Data Coordinator (IDC). The IDC Innovators report profiles four emerging vendors that are leading the development and manufacture of cobots, a growing segment of the robotic industry.
“Cobots are being increasingly deployed by many manufacturing and logistics organizations to increase operations efficiency, agility, and product quality,” said Jing Bing Zhang, research director, IDC Worldwide Robotics, in a press statement. “With more and more vendors entering the market, it becomes imperative for vendors to focus on delivering highly differentiable and value-added solutions to address the pain points of the target customers.”
The IDC analysis focused on vendors with less than $100 million in revenue and residing in a specific market in which they offer an innovative new technology. They are seen as offering a groundbreaking approach to an existing issue that is leading to a new business model.
The four companies have each helped drive cobot development to address needs of end-user organizations that is boosting their competitiveness.
AUBO Robotics has developed models with advanced joint design, where users can customize the number of joints and length between joints to meet specific application requirements. Techman Robotics offers several models of cobots, some of which are mobile, with integrated visions systems that increase the versatility and flexibility of each robot.
JK-Tech Robotics has developed a seven-axis robot with integrated sensors, ensuring that the robots are highly sensitive, flexible, and responsive to external contact. Similarly, Franka Emika offers a seven-axis and ultra-lightweight robot that is designed to assist and work with humans safely.
Each design’s sensors, visions, mobility, and data analytics enable cobots to advance in manufacturing, logistics, and other industries. The cobot market, worth about $710 million now, is experiencing significant growth, with a compound annual growth rate of 50.31 percent between 2018 and 2025.
