Three hour online event set for afternoon of November 30th
Aspiring Veteran Entrepreneurs who have dreams of starting their own business post-military have a range of resources to tap into such as the United States Patent and Trademark Office. On the afternoon of November 30th, the USPTO is holding its 3 hour online 2022 Veterans Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program.
The event’s agenda addresses important core elements of starting a business that can jumpstart an aspiring Veteran entrepreneur into a new arena. It includes:
- Learning how to raising capital,
- Finding funding opportunities for research and development,
- Buying inventory,
- Obtaining lines of credit,
- Building a working prototype, and
- Learning how to sell a product or service to federal, state, or local government agencies.
In addition, Dr. Rory Cooper, U.S. Army veteran and inventor; Founder, Director, and CEO of the Human Engineering Research Laboratories will discuss the obstacles he overcame as an entrepreneur and innovator, including specific inventions that have helped veterans and people with disabilities.
Veteran entrepreneurs and innovators as well as military spouse entrepreneurs will share their stories, challenges, best practices and lessons learned. All will emphasize the importance of protecting business’ IP.
Representatives of entrepreneurial organizations such as the U.S. Small Business Administration, Bunker Labs, and the D’Aniello Institute for Veterans and Military Families at the University of Syracuse are participating.
