Three years ago, Founder and CEO of Perfect Corp, Alice Chang, set out to change the beauty tech industry by merging technology with leading beauty brands that appeal to consumers. At the recent Cosmetic Executive Women’s (CEW) Connected Consumer Conference, Chang revealed “Beauty 3.0,” used to describe her YouCam apps that use artificial intelligence technology to bring makeup online.
The apps serve 700 million users worldwide, offering mobile, web, and in-store virtual makeup application from popular brands including MAC, Estee Lauder, and Target. Users can receive makeup consultations, chat with experts, and even sample products through the app’s augmenting reality technology. Makeup companies also benefit from the app, as they can access data and analyze customer engagement after uploading their products.
One of Chang’s apps, YouCam Makeup, was named the 2018 ‘Best Beauty App’ and the company continues to make waves with beauty tech innovation. Perfect Corp also offers YouCam Nail, which allows users to try nail polish and fake nails, as well as YouCam Shop, where shoppers can chat with other makeup users and access makeup tutorials.
“We are excited to lead the beauty transformation in its new era, ‘Beauty 3.0’, shifting from reactive experiences, to personalized, proactive ones,” Chang explains. “By introducing personalized, on-demand services like in-app live Beauty Advisor consultations, as well as instant product recommendations based on skin tone, face shape, and beauty preferences, we are able to deliver the next generation smart beauty experience designed just for you.”
