This April 16-17, Cornell University is holding its annual Entrepreneurship at Cornell Celebration, a two day conference that brings together multiple colleges and programs on the Ithaca campus with Cornell students, faculty, staff, and alumni. The event is an immersive experience for all of the approximate 700 attendees, offering networking opportunities, expert advice on venture development, an eLab Demo Day, a special keynote speech by Priceline.com founder Jay Walker, and access to a range of resources helpful to entrepreneurs.
Keynote speaker Jay Walker is best known as the founder of Priceline.com and now heads Walker Digital, a privately-held R&D lab founded in 1994. Walker Digital has made hundreds of inventions to solve business problems with a focus on innovative applications for large-scale networks such as cell phones and the Internet. Walker was also the co-founder of Synapse, a company using disruptive technology to revolutionize the magazine subscription business. He has been named as inventor on more than 450 issued and pending U.S. and International Patents. He has been broadly recognized by respected national publications and has twice been named as one of the “50 most influential business leaders in the digital age,” by Time Magazine. His keynote is scheduled for Thursday, April 16th, as part of the eLab Demo Day.
The Symposium sessions, held on both days of the conference, will cover topics such as family business, social entrepreneurship, health administration, etc. and boasts a host of speakers who have invaluable knowledge to impart on student and alumni who are interested in pursuing an entrepreneurial path. The panelists include founders and CEOs of companies such as Fly Labs and Fresh Spin Advertising, as well as leading business experts drawn from across Cornell’s programs. The Celebration Banquet will be Thursday evening with special guest Svante Myrick ’09, Ithaca Mayor. The conference concludes on Friday with the Big Idea Undergraduate Competition Finals that follows the Symposium sessions– with a wrap-up Networking Reception at the Statler Hotel.
