An individual delivering a package

Amazon is reaching out to aspiring entrepreneurs across America, with an offering to help them start their own package service delivery company handling Amazon packages.  They estimate that successful Amazon partner operators overseeing a fleet of 40 delivery vehicles may earn up to earn up to $300,000 in annual profits.

Amazon says they’ll have an active role in helping interested entrepreneurs set up and manage the business, giving them access to their sophisticated delivery technology, discounts on services and assets, and hands-on training.

Dave Clark, senior vice president of worldwide operations at Amazon, talked about the new initiative, saying that, “Customer demand is higher than ever and we have a need to build more capacity. As we evaluated how to support our growth, we went back to our roots to share the opportunity with small-and-medium-sized businesses. We are going to empower new, small businesses to form in order to take advantage of the growing opportunity in e-commerce package delivery.”

Through this new offering individuals with little to no logistics experience have the opportunity to run a small business. In addition to the technology and operational support to make this a reality, Amazon offers exclusively negotiated discounts on certain resources like insurance coverage, branded uniforms, and fuel to keep startup costs as low as $10,000.

Amazon also committed $1 million towards funding the startup costs for any interested military veterans, offering full $10,000 reimbursements for qualified candidates to build their businesses.

Amazon expects that hundreds of new small business owners will hire tens of thousands of delivery drivers across the U.S., joining an existing community of Delivery Service Partners. It reaffirms Amazon’s history of support for small business owners and entrepreneurs, following in the footsteps of Marketplace, which leverages Amazon logistics and websites to connect third-party sellers to customers.
