A SOTI study released on July 6th found that nearly one third of CEOs are not investing in mobile technology, in spite of the global growth of connected devices. 70% of logistics and transportation CEOs do not see the role that rugged handheld devices play in the field, and 60% of remote workers view Internet of Things as non-critical to success.

SOTI provides IoT and mobile device management solutions worldwide, focusing on providing tools to companies so they can mobilize operations and perform the best mobility investments. The study, titled “Are you managing the mobility tsunami or struggling in the next technology tidal wave?”, surveyed 1,300 senior executives and remote workers in organizations around the world with over 50 employees.

The CEO and founder of SOTI, Carl Rodrigues, commented on the research findings in a press release. “The research highlights a lack of integrated mobility tools to secure, support and enable their front-office, back-office and workers in the field. Many organizations are using mobility for the basics, but do not know how to implement the next level of mobile integration to transform their workforce.”

Other findings from the survey include:

  • 69% of employees stating their organization is investing in mobile devices and apps to gain an edge on competitors.
  • 18% state they experience extended outages in service.
  • 49% see this downtime as a serious hindrance to their ability to work.
  • 60% worry about losing information.
  • 54% think it will negatively impact customer relations.
  • 29% worry about losing their job if their device malfunctions.
