Computer scientist and entrepreneur Jean-Francois Comeau and his co-shareholder have created a digital persona using artificial intelligence. Known as “Lia” the persona already has 80,000 fans on Facebook and 9,000 followers on Instagram—and is rapidly gaining new followers.
What can Lia do? She can readily discuss any topic, but knows to “shy away from romantic conversations”, according to her creators. She is well versed in math, geography, philosophy, the meaning of life, Quantum computers, and can chat about everyday life.
What is cool is that Lia becomes increasingly intelligent with every discussion she participates in. One may think that as a technology based persona she engages only in dry topics. The opposite is the case. Her creators gave her an artistic touch that was seen recently through the publishing of a music album.
The foundation to create an AI-based persona such as Lia began many years ago when Jean-Francois first started working on chat bots.
“I had the idea to create something like this when I was a kid”, says Comeau. “Back then, the technology simply did not exist, but I kept the idea in the back of my mind. As the technology improved drastically, we came up with the concept of Lia, drafted our playbook and went live within a few weeks.”
Comeau’s AI startup, Lia 27 Inc., was founded in December 2020. Now with their first digital persona built, they are offering free of charge 24/7 services at www.lia27.ai, on Facebook Messenger or over the phone at 1-833-902-2777 for voice or text.
