Online shopping with credit card

The digital world is now all around us—bringing great benefits, but also disrupting established social norms, businesses and institutions. The rapid growth and expansion of ecommerce due to the pandemic is a big part of this.  Many people associate ecommerce with Amazon—that began as an online book seller and is now a retail behemoth.  While Amazon led and others followed, COVID-19 is now driving digital technology and ecommerce to new heights—bringing changes that were unimaginable before the pandemic.

Ecommerce fraud protection platform Signifyd is recognizing the achievements of tech leaders with The 30 Most Influential in Ecommerce awards for 2021. The top thirty were selected for their brilliance, creativity, agility, perseverance and, courage—for having introduced and adapted technology to counter COVID-19 that permitted people to safely stay at home and avoid the risks of in-store shopping.

Yet, as we reach the one year anniversary of the pandemic, people sadly look back and see over five hundred thousand American deaths as of today, but they also now see how much their daily routines, work and lifestyles have changed due to digital technology.

Retailers were confronted with how to insure customer safety, while continuing to conduct business and make timely delivery of their goods and services. Tech leaders responded by: leveraging technology to creatively adapt and enhance their supply chains, establishing efficiencies for curbside pickup, and offering touch-free food deliveries. These are just three of the many solutions they deployed to counter the pandemic’s impact.

“When you think about where we all were just about a year ago, when the COVID pandemic hit, and consider what these Most Influential in Ecommerce award winners have accomplished, it’s truly remarkable,” Signifyd CEO Raj Ramanand said in announcing the awards.

The Top 30 ecommerce experts were selected based on five categories: Women in Ecommerce, Fraud Fighters in Ecommerce, D-to-C Pioneers in Ecommerce, Omni-channel Trendsetters in Ecommerce and Global Titans in Ecommerce.

The Awards’ announcement highlighted Kelly Moloney of Lulu & Georgia who addressed the challenge of shifting staff to work remotely without affecting productivity.
