Ashburn, Virginia, touted as “the top data center market in the world”, will be the center of development by RagingWire Data Centers and its parent company NTT Communications of the NTT Group (NYSE: NTT). In a recent press release the two companies announced that $160 million will be invested to build the 245,000 square foot Ashburn VA3 Data Center. With a completion date set for the end of 2017 the center will serve as part of RagingWire’s plan to develop Ashburn, Virginia.
Apart from the Data Center, RagingWire also plans to construct the Ashburn VA3 Data Center Campus which will house six buildings on a 76.5 acre location.
“Together, NTT and RagingWire are bolstering Virginia’s leadership in the data center and high technology sectors, supporting a diverse economy in the Commonwealth, generating tax revenues, and creating valuable job opportunities,” says Virginia Governor, Terry McAuliffe.
The benefits of the facility’s construction will not only be the creation of jobs, but also cost savings for RagingWire customers through the Virginia Sales and Use Tax exemption on qualified equipment purchased. The program has helped popularize IT and business operations in Virginia.
The announcement of the Ashburn VA3 Data Center’s construction came at the 2016 Garner Data Center, Infrastructure, and Operations Management Conference which was held from December 5th to 8th. Joining the VA1 and VA2 Data Centers already located in Ashburn, Virginia, the three data centers will create a data center footprint of over half a million square feet and generate 44.4 megawatts of power.
The VA3 Data Center will also feature state-of-the-art security and direct connection to the top cloud providers and other data centers in Ashburn’s “Data Center Alley” and will be built with RagingWire’s award-winning and patented 2N+2 power delivery architecture.
“VA3 offers mission-critical performance, flexible configurations for hyperscale cloud and enterprise deployments, exceptional customer amenities and global integration with NTT Com’s growing portfolio of over 140 data centers around the world,” stated George Macricostas, Chairman, CEO and founder of RagingWire Data Centers.
The announcement of the VA3 Data Center’s construction is part of RagingWire’s growing data center platform in the US which totals to 1.2 million square feet. RagingWire’s data center platform also includes the CA1, CA2 and CA3 Data Centers in Northern California, the TX1 Data Center in Dallas, Texas and NTT’s global data center services operated under the Nexcenter Brand.
