This winter, the inaugural Crowd Invest Summit will take place at the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel in Santa Monica, California. The summit will feature a number of equity crowdfunding topics, including investment analysis and marketing strategies as well as talks from investment professionals, and will aim to connect all types of investors, big and small, to the best investment opportunities.
Rewind about a year ago, however, and this summit would not have been possible.
In March of 2015, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced its ruling on Title IV of the Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act (JOBS Act), allowing private companies to raise up to $50 million from accredited and unaccredited investors. Then, in May of 2016, regulation Crowdfunding under Title III of the JOBS Act became effective, allowing private companies to raise up to $1 million a year from accredited and unaccredited investors, noted in the event’s press release.
Armed with these two key rulings, three men had a vision that every American, accredited and unaccredited, could now become a venture capitalist. So Josef Holm, Darren Marble, and Alon Goren, all crowdfunding pioneers, founded the Crowd Invest Summit.
In a recent press release Marble, the CEO of CrowdfundX, explained, “The industry is desperate for a conference that caters to the everyday Americans. They are the retail investors who will ultimately fuel the growth of the industry.”
The summit is set to include every dimension of the equity crowdfunding industry, including angel investors, venture capital investors, retail investors, real estate investors, entrepreneurs, and of course, average Americans.
“For years, all three of us have been pioneers in an industry with promise and excitement for a world where anyone could invest in any company, regardless of economic or social status,” Goren, CEO of InvestedIn.com, said in the Business Wire press release. “We’ve now built that world, and we expect to unite more companies and investors than ever before.”
The summit, which will be the largest of its kind to date, will take place December 7th-8th. Discounted tickets can be purchased for $99 for a limited time on the summit's website.
