Rent the Runway’s Project Entrepreneur Calls for Applicants

Applications for Project Entrepreneur, a venture competition aimed to increase the number of women building high impact enterprises, are now open through November 21st. A collaboration of Rent the Runway Foundation and UBS Elevating Entrepreneurs, Project Entrepreneur is intended to challenge and educate women entrepreneurs while providing them with the necessary tools to develop successful businesses.

Open to all women entrepreneurs who are attempting to build high growth businesses, Project Entrepreneur will invite the top 200 applicants to the Weekend Intensive in New York City on April 7th and 8th.  After receiving guidance and support for their companies, 12 finalists will be selected to participate in a live pitch competition. A panel of judges consisting of top entrepreneurs will pick three winners, all of which will receive $10,000 and a slot in a five-week accelerator program.

“Entrepreneurs are the driving force behind job creation and economic growth in this country.  And yet women remain underrepresented in the founder landscape,” Head of Community Affairs at UBS Americas, Lori Feinsilver, told PR Newswire in a recent press release.  “Our goal this year is to continue leveling the playing field for all innovators so that everyone has the opportunity to realize the impact of their work.”

In addition to the venture competition, Project Entrepreneur is set to offer free educational seminars this fall in New York City and Los Angeles. Vigorous online tools are also available through its website, including podcasts and educational programs.

“We can’t wait to give more incredible women-founded companies the resources they need to scale and achieve high impact.” Jennifer Hyman, CEO and Co-founder of Rent the Runway, said.
